raffle: beautiful hand-quilted wall hanging

One of our own volunteers has donated a hand-quilted wall hanging. Mrs. Teresa Connell, a local artist, is personally in the process (right now) of designing and making this one of a kind fabulous quilt. Visit often and see the wall hanging come to life! Dimensions: 36" x 42" Appraised at ~ $2,500.00.

raffle winner: Lisa Candelaria!

I was thrilled to recently find out that my family had won a treasure; a beautiful nature themed wall-hanging that was offered for raffle by Wildlife Rescue at the 2009 New Mexico Fair in Albuquerque. When we entered the drawing we hadn’t really expected to win – but were happy to donate. My family and I attend the fair each year. We look forward to visiting the conservation exhibits, and especially enjoy getting an up-close look at the beautiful birds presented by Wildlife Rescue.

My husband is a native New Mexican, and I have lived here for about 17 years. Our favorite aspect of this state is the variety of interesting and majestic geographic areas there are to explore with our children. We especially frequent the Rio Grande trail areas and the Jemez Mountains.

Ever since we have toted them along in back-pack-carriers, we have tried to instill in our children the importance of appreciating and respecting nature. Like us, our kids - now ages 8, 14, and 22 - understand the value of the work that Wildlife Rescue Inc. of New Mexico does.

The gorgeous wall-hanging we are so lucky to have won will be displayed prominently in our living room. It will serve as a wonderful reminder of the scenic areas we love so much, and also that there are good people doing their part to protect the wild life that call these areas home.

-Lisa Candelaria

All proceeds go towards the Education, Care, and Rehabilitation of New Mexico's Wildlife. We took the wall hanging to 10 events in 2009 and it generated $855 in sales. We Thank you!
